/ The problem
WhatsApp here, Instagram there, email on the side, and the team forgetting which one someone messaged from. Help-desk tools that solve this cost a fortune per seat.
/ The outcome
A single self-hosted inbox where every channel lands. The team replies in one place. Agent invites and password resets route through a real transactional email provider so nothing silently fails.

What it does
A unified inbox for WhatsApp, Instagram, email, and live chat. Multiple agents, shared canned responses, conversation labels, and a clean mobile app.
— 02
Under the hood
Chatwoot in Docker on my server, Brevo SMTP relay routing email out (Netcup blocks outbound SMTP — a real-world detail most tutorials miss), and a domain with proper SPF / DKIM.

Who it's for
Any small team where customer messages come in from three or four places and slip through the cracks. Replace $500/month with a few hours of setup and a small hosting bill.
